Two female employees were beaten unconscious during a brutal attack inside an Edmonds massage parlor, police said.
The attack unfolded Sunday evening, Sept. 7, inside Eva Spa Massage on Edmonds Way, according to Edmonds Police.
Surveillance video shows a 48-year-old Edmonds man forcing his way inside just before 5:45 p.m, locking the door behind him, and immediately assaulting one employee, police said.
As the victim retreated into a room where another worker was with a customer, the suspect followed and continued his attack, striking both victims with a metal coat rack, police said. The customer, who was not hurt, reported hearing the suspect make statements suggesting the assault was targeted.
Both victims managed to escape outside, but the man pursued them, continuing the assault until he fled after realizing 911 had been called, police said.
Responding officers found both women unconscious outside the business with significant injuries to their faces and heads. They were transported to area hospitals for further treatment.
Witnesses pointed officers toward a nearby parking lot, where the suspect was located and taken into custody without incident. He was wearing bloodied gloves at the time of his arrest and made unsolicited comments that he was upset he had not killed the victims, police said.
The man, whose name was not released, was charged with attempted murder and unlawful imprisonment.
Edmonds Police detectives processed the scene and continue to investigate the motive behind the attack. Officials credited nearby witnesses with helping officers quickly locate the suspect.
Anyone who may have seen the man leaving the business or has additional information is asked to call 425-407-3999 or email policetips@edmondswa.gov.
