Human remains discovered by construction workers at a Port Orchard job site have prompted a police investigation.
The remains were found Tuesday, June 16, at a local construction site, according to the Port Orchard Police Department.
With assistance from the Kitsap County Sheriff’s Office and the Kitsap County Search and Rescue Team, including K9 units, investigators conducted an extensive search of the surrounding area and recovered the remains, according to police.
Authorities have not released additional details about the remains, including where in Port Orchard they were found, how long they may have been there, or whether investigators have identified the person.
Police said the investigation remains active.
“There is no risk to the public,” the Port Orchard Police Department said in a statement.
No further information was immediately available Thursday.
