If you’ve been hoping to catch comedian Tig Notaro live in Olympia, you might want to make your plans sooner rather than later.

The Emmy- and Grammy-nominated comedian, actress and writer is bringing her Out of Nowhere comedy tour to the Washington Center for the Performing Arts this November, and one of her two scheduled performances has already sold out.

Notaro will take the stage Thursday, Nov. 12, at 7:30 p.m., with tickets priced from $43 to $95, including service fees.

Her second performance, scheduled for Friday, Nov. 13, is already sold out through the venue as of press time, leaving Thursday’s show as the remaining opportunity to catch her Olympia appearance.

Known for her unmistakably dry delivery, awkward pauses and ability to find humor in just about anything, Notaro has built a career that stretches well beyond the stand-up stage.

In fact, there’s a good chance you’ve encountered her work without even realizing it.

From Stand-Up Comedy to Hollywood

Notaro has spent more than two decades building a reputation as one of comedy’s most distinctive performers.

Her understated style often turns seemingly ordinary observations into elaborate jokes, with her deadpan delivery doing much of the heavy lifting.

Her career gained national attention in 2012 following a deeply personal stand-up performance in which she openly discussed her recent breast cancer diagnosis.

The set, performed shortly after her diagnosis, became a defining moment in her career and helped introduce her comedy to a much wider audience.

The performance eventually became the basis for the acclaimed comedy album Live, further establishing Notaro as a performer willing to tackle difficult subjects with humor and honesty.

Since then, she has appeared on numerous late-night television programs, including The Late Show with Stephen Colbert and The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon.

Rolling Stone also named Notaro one of the 50 best stand-up comedians of all time.

Her 2024 Amazon Prime Video comedy special, Tig Notaro: Hello Again, received two Emmy nominations, including recognition for directing and picture editing.

You’ve Probably Seen Her on TV

Notaro’s career isn’t limited to comedy clubs and theater stages.

Science fiction fans may recognize her as engineer Jett Reno from Paramount+’s Star Trek: Discovery, a role she reprised in Star Trek: Starfleet Academy.

She’s also appeared in Apple’s acclaimed drama The Morning Show and several Netflix films, including Your Place or Mine, We Have a Ghost and Zack Snyder’s zombie action movie Army of the Dead.

Notaro also created and starred in the Amazon series One Mississippi, a semi-autobiographical comedy-drama inspired by her experiences with illness, grief and family relationships.

The series earned praise for its unusual combination of dark humor and emotional storytelling.

Her work behind the camera has been equally varied.

Alongside her wife, filmmaker Stephanie Allynne, Notaro co-directed the feature film Am I OK?, which premiered at the Sundance Film Festival in 2022 before arriving on HBO Max in 2024.

The film, starring Dakota Johnson, explores friendship, identity and the complications of figuring out life as an adult.

Notaro also produced the documentary Come See Me in the Good Light, which won Sundance’s Festival Favorite Award in 2025 and later earned an Academy Award nomination for Best Documentary Feature.

The documentary follows poets Andrea Gibson and Megan Falley as they navigate love, creativity and a terminal cancer diagnosis.

There’s More to Tig Than Stand-Up

When she isn’t performing or appearing on screen, Notaro keeps busy in the podcasting world.

She co-hosts Handsome alongside fellow comedians Fortune Feimster and Mae Martin.

The podcast features the trio answering questions submitted by celebrity guests, often veering into amusing personal stories and unexpected conversations.

Notaro is also the author of the New York Times bestselling memoir I’m Just a Person, which chronicles an extraordinarily difficult period of her life involving illness, loss and recovery.

Her ability to weave deeply personal experiences into comedy has become one of her trademarks, helping her connect with audiences far beyond traditional stand-up fans.

And now, South Sound audiences will have an opportunity to experience that distinctive sense of humor in person.
