A Sequim landlord was arrested after allegedly firing a gun at his tenant and threatening to kill him, prompting evacuations and a response from multiple law enforcement agencies.
Randy Raymond Lima, 52, was booked into jail on suspicion of felony harassment involving threats to kill on Friday night, Oct. 16, according to the Clallam County Sheriff’s Office.
Around 8:45 p.m., a tenant called 911 from the 1500 block of Atterberry Road in Sequim, reporting that his landlord was shooting at him.
Dispatchers could hear what sounded like gunshots in the background of the call, the sheriff’s office said.
Deputies arrived and began speaking with the tenant. During that conversation, Lima allegedly called the tenant and threatened to kill him.
Lima lived in a house on an adjacent property, according to investigators.
Authorities established probable cause to arrest Lima on suspicion of felony harassment involving threats to kill.
As the situation unfolded, deputies evacuated neighboring residents as a precaution and obtained a warrant to arrest Lima at his residence.
The Peninsula Crisis Response Team responded alongside officers from the Port Angeles and Sequim police departments and troopers from the Washington State Patrol. There were no reports of injuries.
Lima was taken into custody without injury around 12:25 a.m. Saturday.
He was subsequently booked into the Clallam County Jail on one count of felony harassment involving threats to kill. Investigators said additional charges related to his alleged use or possession of a firearm remain under investigation.
