A fugitive wanted on serious felony charges out of state was caught hiding out on San Juan Island.
Jared Lodholm, 37, was apprehended Thursday, July 24, following a joint investigation by the San Juan County Sheriff’s Office and the US Marshals Service, according to police.
Lodholm was wanted in Michigan on felony warrants for sexual assault and absconding from justice, the sheriff’s office said. The US Marshals contacted local deputies after learning that he was residing on the island.
Lodholm is now awaiting extradition back to Michigan.
San Juan County Sheriff Eric Peter emphasized the importance of inter-agency communication in capturing fugitives who try to disappear into small communities.“
“Thank you to the U.S. Marshal Service for locating and arresting this wanted person in our community and for connecting with the SJCSO on this matter,” Peter said.
