Fame comes and goes. The call of a fresh donut is forever.
One of Monroe’s most famous hometown success stories recently stopped by for donuts, but there was one small problem: the baker who wanted to say hello didn’t realize he was there.
That’s according to a lighthearted Facebook post from Henry’s Donuts in Monroe, where staff revealed that singer-songwriter Benson Boone had dropped in for a sweet treat.
“We’re incredibly proud to be a local donut shop that has become a favorite stop for Benson Boone (since he was in high school),” the shop wrote in the June 6 post.
It quickly attracted dozens of comments from excited fans and locals, many of whom were equally disappointed they missed the visit.
According to Henry’s Donuts, the person taking the news the hardest may have been Jerry, the bakery’s longtime baker.
“Anyway, we are, especially, Jerry (the baker) so sad to missed seeing Benson Boone today! We were hoping to say hello again!” the shop wrote. “He was here while Jerry was working at the back.”
The bakery made it clear there are no hard feelings.
“Benson, if you’re reading this, there’s always a fresh donut waiting for you at Henry’s Donuts, Monroe!” the post continued.

Benson’s Favorite Donut
Alongside the post was a photo of several maple bars topped with bacon.
“You can guess which one is Benson’s favorite donut!!!” the shop wrote.
Fans flooded the comments with praise for both Boone and the bakery.
“Benson clearly knows Henry’s has the best donuts!” one commenter wrote.
Others focused their attention on Jerry. “Jerry is the best! I can’t believe we missed Benson! My little girls would’ve melted!” another commenter wrote.
One customer credited Jerry for helping make Henry’s a community institution.
“Henry’s has the best donuts, yes, but what makes them the best is Jerry!” the customer wrote. “He always takes the time to say hi to me and ask about work and my boys.”
From Monroe to the Main Stage
Boone’s stop at the local donut shop served as a reminder that despite his rapid rise to international fame, he still maintains strong ties to his hometown.
The Monroe native first gained national attention after appearing on American Idol before launching a music career that quickly took off.
His breakout hit, Beautiful Things, became one of the biggest songs in the world and helped propel him from small-town singer to global star.
Despite sold-out shows, chart success and millions of fans, it appears Boone still knows where to find a good donut.
