An 18-month investigation into a Tacoma-based street gang resulted in nine indictments and multiple arrests tied to a fentanyl trafficking conspiracy stretching from Arizona to Washington and beyond.

Large-Scale Operation

Over the last 36 hours, law enforcement executed 13 search warrants and arrested eight of nine people charged in a ten-count federal indictment, the US Attorney’s Office in Tacoma announced Thursday, Aug. 21.

Another seven people were arrested on related complaints following searches of homes and vehicles.

The investigation, led by the FBI’s South Sound Safe Streets Gang Task Force, revealed gang members and associates were using couriers to transport fentanyl in checked luggage from Phoenix to Sea-Tac Airport, with at least one shipment routed to Baltimore.

The operation is part of Operation Summer Heat, a nationwide FBI initiative targeting violent criminals and gangs during the summer months.

Defendants Named

Those indicted include:

  • Bryant K. Moss Jr., aka “BJ,” 29, Tacoma
  • Gary Williams, aka “Fat Boy,” 36, Tacoma
  • Dominique Woods, aka “Kane,” 33, Spanaway
  • Joshua Logsdon, aka “Bird,” 38, Lakewood
  • Michael Lewis, 32, Seattle
  • Dallas Martin, 28, Phoenix
  • Josaphina Diaz, 30, Tacoma
  • Forest Neal, 31, Tacoma
  • Genesis Moreau, 25, Vancouver

All nine face conspiracy charges to distribute controlled substances. Individual defendants also face specific charges tied to fentanyl possession and distribution between March 2024 and April 2025.

Seven others — including suspects from Tacoma, Yelm, Edgewood, and elsewhere in Pierce County — were arrested based on probable cause linked to the investigation.

Drugs And Weapons Seized

Authorities seized significant amounts of drugs and firearms both during the investigation and in the most recent raids, prosecutors said. During the investigation, agents confiscated 34 kilograms of fentanyl, 45 kilograms of marijuana, and nine firearms.

Over the last 36 hours, they seized an additional 2.6 kilograms of fentanyl, 227.9 grams of cocaine, 6.8 kilograms of methamphetamine, 40.7 grams of heroin, 27.5 kilograms of marijuana, $111,524 in cash, and 23 firearms.

Several defendants face mandatory minimum sentences of at least 10 years if convicted due to the large quantities seized.

Investigation Details

The 18-month probe included a two-month wiretap, surveillance, and coordination between local, state, and federal agencies. Investigators say they documented gang members making repeated trips to Phoenix to pick up fentanyl and fly it back to Washington in luggage.

Some defendants are identified as members of the Knoccout Crips, a Tacoma street gang tied to drug trafficking and violence in the region.
