President Donald Trump said he plans to patrol the streets of Washington, D.C., Thursday night alongside police officers and National Guard troops.

Trump made the remarks during an interview with conservative radio host Todd Starnes, saying he expected to join law enforcement as part of a federal crime crackdown.

“I’m going to be going out tonight, I think, with the police and with the military, of course. So we’re going to do a job,” Trump told Starnes. He also praised the National Guard, calling their work “fantastic.”

A senior White House official later told The Hill that details of the president’s plans were still being finalized.

This is a developing story.
