Deputies are investigating a suspected drive-by shooting that sent a man to the hospital after dozens of gunshots rang out at a Tacoma apartment complex.

The Pierce County Sheriff’s Office received dozens of calls shortly before 7:30 p.m. Sunday, March 15, reporting between 20 and 70 shots fired at the Golden Given Terrace Apartments on 99th Street East, the agency said.

When deputies arrived, they located a man suffering from gunshot wounds. He was taken to a local hospital with injuries described as non-life-threatening, according to the sheriff’s office.

Investigators found extensive evidence of gunfire in the apartment complex parking lot. More than 20 shell casings were recovered at the scene, and several parked vehicles were struck by bullets, leaving shattered windows and visible damage, deputies said.

Preliminary information suggests the shooting may have been a drive-by-style attack, according to investigators.

No information about a suspect or suspects has been released, and no arrests had been made as of Monday.
