Chris Pratt Reveals His Kids Have Never Done This Very Normal Kid Thing

Even as one of Hollywood’s biggest stars, Snohomish County native Chris Pratt says his youngest kids have yet to watch a single film.

Pratt, who grew up in Lake Stevens, revealed during a Tuesday, March 17 appearance on NBC’s Today that his three children with wife Katherine Schwarzenegger have never seen a movie due to strict limits on screen time.

“My 5-year-old, my 3-year-old, and my 1-year-old have never seen movies,” Pratt, 46, said during the interview. “Katherine is very old-school when it comes to screens and technology and all of that stuff.”

The actor, known for blockbuster roles in Guardians of the Galaxy and the Jurassic World franchise, said the couple prefers to hold off on introducing screens until their kids are older. “So we’re waiting,” he said.

That means, for now, his younger children haven’t seen any of his films — including his role as Mario in The Super Mario Bros. Movie, which is getting a new installment set to hit theaters April 3.

Pratt does have one fan at home, though. His 13-year-old son Jack, whom he shares with ex-wife Anna Faris, has already seen the first Mario film.

“He thinks it’s pretty cool,” Pratt said.

As for his younger kids, Pratt joked they simply haven’t realized yet that their dad is, in fact, a movie star. “They haven’t realized it yet, but one day,” he said. “Jack likes me though.”

Pratt and Schwarzenegger, who married in 2019, have been open about taking a thoughtful approach to parenting and their relationship. Pratt previously said the couple completed extensive premarital counseling, working through potential disagreements before tying the knot.

“They ask you questions you would not even think to answer,” Pratt said during a recent podcast appearance. “It was really great.”

For now, though, the focus at home remains screen-free — even if it means Pratt’s biggest audience hasn’t seen his work just yet.

Before becoming a household name, Pratt was raised in Lake Stevens, where he attended Lake Stevens High School and competed as a standout wrestler.

He has often credited his upbringing in Snohomish County for shaping his work ethic, and has remained connected to the community over the years, including supporting the Lake Stevens Boys & Girls Club — a full-circle moment for a hometown kid who went from local mats to global movie screens.

Pratt rose to fame as the lovable Andy Dwyer on NBC’s Parks and Recreation before transitioning into blockbuster stardom, leading the Guardians of the Galaxy franchise as Peter Quill and headlining the Jurassic World films. He has also lent his voice to major animated hits, including Mario in The Super Mario Bros. Movie.
