Police are asking for the public’s help locating a missing 71-year-old Monroe man who was last seen driving through the South Sound on Tuesday, March 17.

Benjamin Stearns, a Monroe resident, was reported missing after he was last seen behind the wheel of a white 2020 Toyota RAV4, according to Monroe Police.

Authorities said his most recent confirmed location was in the Sumner area earlier in the day, prompting a multi-agency search involving South Sound law enforcement.

In a later update, police said Stearns was spotted around 2:30 p.m. traveling northbound on West Valley Highway near 180th Street in Tukwila, based on automated license plate reader data.

The vehicle he was driving is described as a white 2020 Toyota RAV4 with Washington license plate CGT0287.

Officials said a Silver Alert is being pursued as the search continues.

Anyone who sees Stearns or the vehicle is asked to call 911 immediately.
