A new spot serving authentic Indian dishes — from smoky tandoori meats to rich, aromatic curries — is drawing attention in Port Angeles just months after opening.
Great Indian Cuisine, located at 222 North Lincoln Street, opened in late December 2025 and is already building a reputation for its vibrant flavors and welcoming atmosphere.
The restaurant invites diners to “experience royal Indian cuisine,” offering a menu rooted in traditional recipes while embracing a modern dining experience in the heart of the city.
At the center of the menu are its tandoori specialties and freshly baked naan. Dishes like tandoori chicken and chicken tikka deliver a smoky char straight from the clay oven, paired with soft, buttery naan in varieties like garlic, cheese, and onion.
Starters set the tone early. Crispy samosas — filled with seasoned potatoes and peas — arrive hot with chutney, while loaded papadum offers a lighter bite topped with fresh tomato, onion, cilantro, yogurt, and tamarind sauce.
The main courses lean into bold, classic flavors. Diners can choose from creamy, mild butter chicken-style makhani, fiery vindaloo with chili-forward heat, or herbaceous mint curry layered with fresh ingredients like ginger, garlic, and green chilies.
Vegetarian options are also front and center, including dishes like aloo gobi with tomatoes and ginger, and mattar paneer, which pairs green peas with soft Indian cheese.
For something heartier, biryani dishes bring fragrant basmati rice together with options like tender lamb or mixed vegetables.
Desserts round out the experience with traditional sweets such as kheer, a creamy rice pudding, and angoori rasmalai, featuring soft cheese dumplings soaked in sweetened milk.
Early reviews suggest the restaurant is hitting the mark. Great Indian Cuisine currently holds a 4.5-star rating on Yelp, with customers praising both the food and service.
“I’ve been missing diverse eateries for the last year here and this is exactly what I’ve been craving,” said Nicki G. of Port Angeles in a Yelp review. “Food was 10/10 and service was 20/10.”
Beyond everyday dining, the restaurant also offers private dining options for weddings, corporate events, and celebrations.
