If you’re wondering where Bremerton locals actually like to eat, one recent community discussion offered plenty of ideas.
While dozens of restaurants were mentioned, the same handful of names kept coming up again and again.
These aren’t ranked by critics or national publications. Instead, they’re the restaurants that earned repeated praise from the people who know the city best.
Whether you’re craving Thai food, farm-to-table dining, Indian cuisine or an old-school gyro, these are five Bremerton restaurants locals consistently recommend.
Khao Soi

Tucked into Bremerton’s Manette neighborhood, Khao Soi received more recommendations than any other restaurant in the discussion. One local summed it up simply: “Khao Soi in Manette is excellent Thai food.”
The family-owned restaurant specializes in Northern Thai cuisine, serving bold flavors that have quickly built a loyal following across Kitsap County.
Signature dishes include its namesake khao soi, a rich coconut curry noodle soup topped with crispy fried egg noodles and tender chicken, along with flavorful Panang curry, pad see ew, crab fried rice, and fresh betel wraps.
Inside, the dining room is intimate, so tables can fill quickly during busy hours. When the weather cooperates, outdoor seating offers views toward downtown Bremerton, the waterfront and the Manette Bridge.
Owners Jason Politanont and Sumatsa Tamayo opened Khao Soi in early 2020, just as the pandemic began. Despite the challenging timing, the restaurant proved so popular it later expanded with a second location in Port Orchard.

Restaurant Lola

Restaurant Lola has become Bremerton’s go-to destination for date nights and celebrations, despite being one of the city’s smallest restaurants.
Perhaps the strongest endorsement came from a longtime Seattle resident who wrote, “Restaurant Lola is the best in Kitsap and the region. Southern meets PNW.”
Chef John Hall and partner Anna Bressi opened Restaurant Lola in late 2023 with a menu built around seasonal Pacific Northwest ingredients and Southern influences.
Because the menu changes regularly, diners may find everything from fresh oysters and handmade pasta to bavette steak and rotating house-made desserts.
The restaurant seats only about 21 guests, giving it an intimate neighborhood feel despite its location in an unassuming strip mall. Reservations are often recommended, especially on weekends.
Named after Hall’s great-aunt Lola, the restaurant reflects the couple’s commitment to working closely with local farmers, fishmongers and producers rather than relying on large distributors.

The Curry

For Indian food, locals repeatedly pointed newcomers toward The Curry in downtown Bremerton.
Several locals singled out The Curry as their go-to Indian restaurant. One called it their “absolute favorite for dinner,” while another simply described it as “divine.”
Owned by husband-and-wife team Navnish and Kusan Joshi, The Curry serves a broad menu of North Indian favorites, including butter chicken, tikka masala, coconut lamb curry and chef’s special chilli chicken.
Fresh garlic cheese naan also earned a reputation as a must-order side.
One advantage diners appreciate is the customizable spice scale, allowing guests to choose heat levels that match their preferences. Vegetarian, vegan, and gluten-free options also make the restaurant accessible to a wide variety of diners.
Before opening The Curry, the Joshis operated a successful Indian restaurant in Silverdale. More than a decade later, their downtown Bremerton restaurant remains one of the area’s most frequently recommended places for authentic Indian cuisine.

Gyros Etc. / The Greek Connextion

Sometimes the smallest restaurants leave the biggest impression.
Locals repeatedly described Gyros Etc., also known as The Greek Connextion, as one of Bremerton’s true hidden gems.
“Ran by a 74-year-old first gen Greek immigrant, he makes everything,” one local wrote. “Cash only, no seats but amazing gyro and falafel.”
The tiny Sixth Street shop focuses almost entirely on traditional Greek street food prepared from scratch. The gyros are the clear standout, joined by fresh falafel, homemade tzatziki, hummus, and flaky baklava.
The experience is refreshingly simple. There are no dining tables, no elaborate décor and no unnecessary extras.
Customers order, grab their food and head out, though regulars note the owner prepares everything himself, so waits can occasionally be longer during busy periods.
That dedication to quality appears to be exactly why so many locals keep returning. As one resident put it, “Greek connection knocks my socks off every damn time.”

Mezcalitos

If you’re looking for a lively meal near the Bremerton ferry terminal, locals say Mezcalitos deserves a spot on your list.
The downtown restaurant pairs authentic Mexican cuisine with an energetic atmosphere.
Diners can choose from street tacos, sizzling fajitas, seafood dishes, tableside guacamole and margarita flights, while complimentary warm bean dip has become a favorite among returning customers.
Large indoor dining areas and an outdoor deck make it a flexible option whether you’re stopping in after work, meeting friends or grabbing dinner before catching the ferry.
“Mezcalitos down by the ferry is awesome and has great drinks,” one regular wrote.
Another praised both the food and value, adding, “Happy hour prices on Tuesday/Thursday make it a great deal for good food.”
After finding success with its original Poulsbo location, Mezcalitos expanded into downtown Bremerton in 2024, bringing its colorful atmosphere and extensive menu to the city’s waterfront district.
