Something strange is out there.
A Texas family’s video of a distant figure has fueled claims that Bigfoot wandered onto the property near the Hunt County city of Greenville.
Three witnesses reported seeing the figure just after 7 p.m. on Oct. 4, 2025, on a 7-acre property near County Road 4201. The Bigfoot Field Researchers Organization later published the family’s account with two photos and a video.

The witnesses said they first noticed the figure after four dogs ran toward it while barking. The dogs stopped barking and returned to the house after reaching it, according to the report.
The figure appeared to walk upright after emerging from a tree line, then dropped to all fours as it approached a pond, the witnesses reported.
The video shows a dark, distant shape crossing the pasture, but it does not capture the reported movement on all fours, BFRO investigator Caroline Curtis wrote.
The footage does not provide enough detail to identify the figure. The organization has not completed a size comparison at the site, and the report includes no tracks, hair, DNA or other physical evidence.
Video offers few clear details
The witnesses attempted to record the figure with a phone, but distance and fading daylight limited the image quality. The temperature was about 90 degrees, the sky was clear and darkness was approaching, according to the report.
The family sent two photos and a video to the BFRO the following day. The organization posted a downloadable copy of the phone recording because online video platforms and text messaging can reduce image quality, Curtis wrote.
The footage shows the figure moving across the pasture but does not show it dropping to all fours. Witnesses watching from other angles said they saw that movement directly.
The family contacted the neighboring landowners after the sighting. The landowners checked the area near the pond the next morning but found no sign of the figure, according to the report.
Curtis concluded that the family appeared sincere and was not trying to stage a hoax. She also wrote that the figure appeared to move with a smooth gait and without the head movement often visible when a person walks.
“From everything I can see about this case, I think they got a real bigfoot on camera,” Curtis wrote.
Investigators lack a size comparison
The BFRO delayed releasing the report while investigators sought permission to conduct a re-creation on the property, BFRO founder Matt Moneymaker wrote.
A re-creation would place a person of known height along the same route. Investigators could then compare that person’s size with the figure in the original footage.
The group’s nearest investigator could not obtain a response from the landowner, Moneymaker wrote. Without access to the property, investigators could not take the measurements needed for a reliable comparison.
The BFRO eventually released the report and video in hopes that public attention would encourage the property owner to cooperate.
Moneymaker also argued that the location supports the Bigfoot theory because it lies between the headwaters of the Sabine and Sulphur rivers. A nearby railroad bed could serve as a travel route between the river systems, he wrote.
Moneymaker said the region’s large white-tailed deer population could attract Bigfoot.
A Texas BFRO investigator also examined a separate 2020 report near the same area, according to the organization.
Investigator brings tracking experience
Curtis has served as BFRO secretary for 20 years and has helped organize expeditions in Florida, Michigan and Wisconsin, according to her biography on the organization’s website.
She is also a Level 1 certified visual tracker and grew up at a family fishing and hunting resort in Michigan’s Upper Peninsula, according to the biography.
Her professional background includes 13 years assisting a Florida circuit court judge and work with criminal defense attorneys.
Reports of large, unidentified, humanlike creatures have circulated across North America for generations.
Despite frequent sightings and recordings, scientists have not confirmed the existence of Bigfoot through a body, DNA or other widely accepted physical evidence.
