Detectives are investigating after dismembered human remains in acid were discovered at a Tukwila home on Tuesday morning, May 5, Puget Press has learned.

Officers responded to a home in the 14800 block of 42nd Avenue South after receiving a report of human remains found on the property, according to the Tukwila Police Department.

Responding officers located a deceased individual at the residence, police said. The department’s Major Crimes Unit later took over the investigation and spent hours processing the scene.

Authorities said there is no known threat to the public.

A source close to the investigation told Puget Press the remains had been dismembered and that at least some were submerged in acid in what appeared to be an attempt to dissolve them.

Police have not announced whether any suspects have been identified or arrested. Officials also have not released the identity of the deceased, a cause of death, or any possible motive connected to the case.

Crime scene technicians remained at the property Tuesday evening as the investigation continued.
