A pilot safely landed a small aircraft in a Jefferson County field after reporting an engine failure.
The incident happened around 10:50 a.m. Tuesday, May 12, when the pilot of a single-propeller plane contacted air traffic control to report engine trouble, the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office said.
The pilot initially told controllers they would attempt an emergency landing near the intersection of Highway 101 and Highway 104 near Quilcene. About five minutes later, they ontacted Jeffcom 911 and reported the aircraft had safely landed in a field off Boulton Road.
Neither the pilot nor anyone on the ground was injured, deputies said.
Emergency crews from multiple agencies responded to the scene.
“Thank you to all the agencies who responded,” the sheriff’s office said. “Teamwork makes the dream work!”
