Burke Ramsey is urging investigators to send DNA evidence from his sister JonBenét Ramsey’s killing to additional labs, saying a match could help solve the case nearly 30 years after her death.

Speaking publicly about the case for the first time in a decade, Burke Ramsey pointed to unidentified DNA recovered from beneath his sister’s fingernails.

“We need to find that match. It’s the best evidence we have,” he told the Daily Mail. He said he was willing to help investigators however he could.

JonBenét was 6 when she was found dead in the basement of her family’s home in Boulder, Colorado, on Dec. 26, 1996. An autopsy found she had been strangled.

Burke Ramsey, who was 9 at the time, denied involvement and said he believed the DNA evidence pointed away from his family.

The interview comes as ABC prepares to air a 20/20 special on the case Friday, Nov. 6, with Diane Sawyer.

A separate Netflix drama premieres Dec. 10, with Melissa McCarthy playing JonBenét’s mother, Patsy Ramsey.

McCarthy told TMZ she hoped the series would spur renewed investigative efforts and said she did not believe anyone in the family was responsible.

The killing remains unsolved. The Boulder Police Department says the investigation is open and detectives continue to work with DNA experts and outside forensic labs.
