A Forks man is facing attempted murder charges after allegedly shooting a female relative in the chest.
Oscar Recinos Pascacio, of Forks, was booked into the Clallam County Jail on suspicion of second-degree attempted murder involving domestic violence on Sunday evening, Oct. 18, according to a joint release from the Forks Police Department and Clallam County Sheriff’s Office.
Officers found the 44-year-old woman at a neighbor’s house with a gunshot wound to her upper torso near her right shoulder. She was taken to Forks Community Hospital and later flown to Harborview Medical Center in Seattle for treatment.
Investigators said the woman is expected to survive.
The response began around 8:10 p.m. Sunday, when PenCom dispatch received multiple 911 calls reporting a disturbance at a residence in the 500 block of Terra Eden Street.
Forks police officers, Clallam County sheriff’s deputies and a Jefferson County sheriff’s deputy responded after receiving a report that a woman had been shot by a family member.
Before officers arrived, other family members reportedly tried to restrain and disarm Recinos Pascacio, police said.
Officers detained Recinos Pascacio at the residence and recovered a handgun from the yard that authorities said was reportedly used in the shooting.
Investigators identified Recinos Pascacio as a family member but did not specify his relationship to the woman, nor did they speculate on a possible motive for the shooting.
