Get Out: 5 Fun Things to Do This Weekend in Kitsap County

Kitsap Salmon Tours & Port Gamble Ghost Conference

Watch for salmon returning to Kitsap creeks, follow a butterfly procession on Bainbridge Island, or spend an evening investigating a reported haunting in Port Gamble.

Here are five things to do around Kitsap County Nov. 6–8:

1. 17th Annual Port Gamble Ghost Conference

Halloween may be over, but Port Gamble still has a weekend of ghost stories on the calendar.

The Port Gamble Ghost Conference brings in speakers who work in paranormal investigation, with optional classes and nighttime investigations at sites including the Walker-Ames House and the Masonic Lodge.

A general admission pass covers the featured talks. If you want to join an investigation or take a class, buy that ticket separately.

The conference ticket page has the schedule and check-in instructions. Bring your ticket confirmation. On-site ticket purchases are online only.

When: Friday, Nov. 6, welcome and talks from 4–9:30 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 7, talks from 10 a.m.–5 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 8, talks from 11 a.m.–3 p.m. Add-on times vary.
Where: Port Gamble Theater check-in, 4839 View Drive NE, Port Gamble, WA. Investigations take place at several sites around town.
Cost: $30 for one day or $45 for three days. Optional classes are $30 each, and investigations are $10–$20 each.

2. Bremerton First Friday Art Walk

Galleries, shops and other businesses stay open Friday evening for Bremerton’s free, self-guided art walk.

Participating venues host artists and musicians across downtown, Charleston, Lebo and Manette. You can make one or two stops and call it a night, or build an evening around dinner and a few galleries.

Start at Collective Visions Gallery on Pacific Avenue if you want a single address to aim for. The Downtown Bremerton Association’s art walk map shows participating businesses and parking options.

The walk goes ahead rain or shine.

When: Friday, Nov. 6, 5–8 p.m.
Where: Multiple Bremerton locations. Suggested starting point: Collective Visions Gallery, 331 Pacific Ave., Bremerton, WA.
Cost: Free. No tickets required.

3. North Kitsap HolidayFest

More than 100 artists, makers and food vendors will fill the gyms and commons at North Kitsap High School.

North Kitsap HolidayFest began in 1987 as a fundraiser for a safe graduation night and still supports students at the school. It’s a practical stop if you want to get some gift shopping done in one trip.

The Visit Poulsbo calendar confirms both days, with a later opening on Sunday.

When: Saturday, Nov. 7, 9 a.m.–5 p.m., and Sunday, Nov. 8, 11 a.m.–4 p.m.
Where: North Kitsap High School, 1780 NE Hostmark St., Poulsbo, WA
Cost: $5 general admission. Children 10 and younger get in free. Parking is free.

4. Kitsap Salmon Tours at Clear Creek

Bring the kids to Silverdale’s Clear Creek Trail on Saturday to look for returning salmon and learn what brought them back to local streams.

WSU Extension’s Kitsap Salmon Tours puts trained volunteers and local experts at eight sites around the county for one afternoon.

At the Ridgetop Pavilion, Kitsap Regional Library staff will offer hands-on activities, so there’s something to do between looks at the creek. The WSU site has a map if another viewing spot is closer to home.

When: Saturday, Nov. 7, 11 a.m.–3 p.m.
Where: Clear Creek Trail Ridgetop Pavilion, 9228 Ridgetop Blvd., Silverdale, WA
Cost: Free.

5. Día de los Muertos Community Celebrations

At the Bainbridge Island Museum of Art’s Día de los Muertos celebration, visitors can add mementos or stories honoring loved ones to an ofrenda created by artist Araceli Cruz.

The daytime program includes Mexican folk music, face painting and art activities. Families can also make wearable butterfly wings for the mariposa processions at 11 a.m. and 2 p.m.

The daytime remembrance ceremonies are full, and the evening celebration is sold out. Aim for the open activity periods from 12:30–2 p.m. or 3:30–5 p.m., when you can visit without a ticket.

The museum will also livestream the daytime ceremonies in its auditorium, with seats available first come, first served.

When: Saturday, Nov. 7, 11 a.m.–5 p.m. Butterfly wing making starts at 9 a.m.
Where: Bainbridge Island Museum of Art, 550 Winslow Way E., Bainbridge Island, WA
Cost: Free for the daytime drop-in activities. No ticket required for those activities.
