Blue’s Clues host Steve Burns is returning with something new: a podcast for grown-ups.

The former Nickelodeon star, now 51, will debut Alive on Wednesday, Sept. 17, through Lemonada Media.

Born out of his viral TikTok videos during the COVID-19 pandemic, Burns is hoping to reconnect with the generation that grew up watching him years ago.

“It seems that there was an opportunity to just continue the conversation — to simply scale it up for adults, which was a revelation to me,” Burns told PEOPLE.

The weekly podcast will cover everything from grief and mental health to student loans and the anxieties of everyday life. Guests will include hospice nurses, elected officials, and celebrities, with Jamie Lee Curtis among the first names Burns revealed.

Burns described the show’s vibe as “very much like a public access cable show from the late ’90s,” and said while there are no animated puppies this time, listeners themselves will be the real “celebrity guest” each week.

Looking back on his years with Blue’s Clues, Burns said the format isn’t so different—just more grown-up.

“It used to be about shapes and colors and letters and numbers and vegetables and stuff,” he said on TikTok earlier this summer, “but now it could really be about death and sex and taxes and everything that makes it so weird and wonderful to be alive.”

Alive premieres Wednesday, Sept. 17. Find it on Spotify, Apple Podcasts, and the Lemonada Media website.
