Police are seeking tips after a cyclist was seriously injured in a hit-and-run collision in Puyallup.

The incident happened just after 3 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 30, at Meridian Avenue (State Route 161) and 168th Street East, Washington State Patrol said.

A preliminary investigation revealed that a white Mercedes C-Class struck the bicyclist before speeding off—with the victim’s purse-style bag stuck to its front right fender, police said.

The rider was hospitalized with severe injuries.

Troopers are looking for a white Mercedes C-Class sedan with tinted windows, tinted taillights, and black rims. A distinctive detail may help: the cyclist’s purse-like bag became attached to the front passenger-side fender during the impact.

Detectives asked anyone who saw the crash or has relevant dashcam footage from the corridor around 2:45–3:30 p.m. to come forward. Tips can be sent to Detective Joshua Sanborn at joshua.sanborn@wsp.wa.gov or by phone at 253-538-3176.
