1 Dead After Apartment Fire Breaks Out In Tacoma

One person was killed and several others were displaced when a fire tore through an apartment complex in north Tacoma on Friday morning, April 3.

Crews were called to the 1200 block of North Pearl Street around 7:50 a.m. after reports of a fire inside the building, according to Tacoma Fire.

Firefighters arrived and began searching for the source of the flames while evacuating residents from the complex. One occupant was found dead during the response, fire officials said.

The fire has since been extinguished, but crews remained on scene monitoring for hot spots as of 9:30 a.m.

Four residents were displaced by the fire and are being assisted by the Red Cross, fire officials said. In all, three units were damaged.

Tacoma Police are also at the scene and will handle the investigation into the cause of the fire.
