A retail theft sting at a Lynnwood-area Fred Meyer led to multiple investigations and at least one arrest after a suspect tried to flee deputies.

Deputies partnered with Fred Meyer Asset Protection on Thursday, March 26, to target retail theft at a store in unincorporated Lynnwood, according to the Snohomish County Sheriff’s Office. Over about four hours, deputies investigated five separate theft cases.

One case involved a 23-year-old Everett man who allegedly concealed alcohol and another beverage in his jacket before leaving the store without paying, deputies said.

Deputy Taylor Davis followed the man outside, identified himself, and ordered him to stop, advising he was under arrest, authorities said. The suspect ignored commands and ran through the parking lot, prompting a brief foot pursuit.

Bodycam footage shows Davis catching up to the suspect and tackling him, taking him into custody without injury, according to deputies.

The man was booked into jail and was also found to have an outstanding warrant out of Lynnwood.

Officials said the operation highlights ongoing concerns about both organized and opportunistic retail theft in the area.
