Suspect Sought After Sexual Assault at Little Squalicum Park

The Whatcom County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a sexual assault reported at Little Squalicum Park in Bellingham.

Deputies said the assault occurred between 7 a.m. and 9 a.m. Wednesday, Aug. 20, along the park’s trail system off Marine Drive. A search involving local agencies and a sheriff’s K-9 did not locate the suspect.

The man was described as white, in his 30s or 40s, heavier set, 5-foot-10 to 6-foot 1 tall, with dark curly hair in a ponytail and a beard. He was last seen wearing brown pants and a tan jacket. Investigators noted the description may change as the case develops.

Detectives are asking residents and businesses near the park to review security footage, including Ring and Nest cameras, from the time of the assault.
