Lonely Hearts Club: 9-Year-Old Pug Pierre Is Looking For A Fresh Start In Washington

Pierre the Pug Pierre the Pug. (Evergreen Pug Rescue)

Pierre has already been through one big life change this year. Now, the 9-year-old pug is hoping his next chapter ends with a forever home.

The senior pup recently arrived in Washington after being surrendered to Seattle’s Evergreen Pug Rescue when his family had to move and could no longer keep him, according to the rescue organization.

“It broke their heart, but we are glad they are entrusting us to make sure we find him a soft spot to land for his golden era,” Evergreen Pug Rescue wrote in a recent Facebook post.

Pierre made the trip to the Pacific Northwest last weekend and is now settling into foster care while he waits for adoption.

A Senior In Age Only

Despite being 9 years old, Pierre doesn’t seem interested in slowing down.

His foster family describes him as energetic and playful. According to his adoption profile, he enjoys running, playing, and chasing other dogs, and has no trouble keeping up with younger pups.

He’s also a fan of food, cuddles, and soft places to nap.

Pierre sleeps comfortably in his crate, though his foster family suspects he’d happily trade it for a cozy bed nearby whenever possible.

He is currently working on his potty training and making steady progress.

Ready For His Next Home

Evergreen Pug Rescue says Pierre has already been neutered, tested negative for heartworm, received his vaccinations, and completed a veterinary examination.

The rescue expects him to be ready to begin the next stage of his life soon.

For now, Pierre is being fostered while the search continues for a family willing to give him a comfortable retirement filled with treats, naps, and companionship.

The rescue says Pierre gets along with children and other dogs. His compatibility with cats and other animals has not yet been tested.

At roughly 10 to 20 pounds, Pierre may qualify as a senior on paper. His personality, however, appears to have missed that memo.
