A homicide investigation is underway after a man was shot to death inside a Tacoma hospital.
The shooting occurred in the emergency room waiting room at MultiCare Allenmore Hospital on Union Avenue just after 7 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 6, according to Tacoma Police.
Officers responded after receiving reports of gunfire. When they arrived, they found an adult male and an adult female with gunshot wounds.
Medics attempted lifesaving efforts, but the man was pronounced dead at the scene, police said. The woman was hospitalized; her condition has not been released.
Tacoma police confirmed they are treating the case as a homicide. As of Thursday morning, no arrests had been made.
In a statement Thursday, MultiCare Allenmore Hospital said the ER remains open for walk-ins, but the waiting room is closed due to the ongoing police investigation. Ambulance traffic is currently being diverted.
