A new elevated Mexican concept is headed to Everett’s waterfront, bringing 100+ tequilas, an all-day menu, and a year-round covered patio to Restaurant Row.
The Port of Everett has secured Marina Azul Cocina & Cantina for its Restaurant Row lineup at Waterfront Place, the port announced Wednesday, Sept. 3.
Commissioners approved a 10-year lease with two five-year extension options for a ~2,500-square-foot interior plus a spacious patio along the marina esplanade.
The new spot comes from the team behind Cava Azul (Woodinville) and Agave Cocina & Cantina (Redmond, Kent Station) and will occupy the 6,000-square-foot corner building at Seiner and West Marine View drives, near the Grand Avenue Park Bridge.
It shares the building with The Net Shed, a fish-and-chips and fresh fish market. Around the corner, Rustic Cork Wine Bar, Tapped Public House, and Menchie’s Frozen Yogurt are opening in a new 12,000-square-foot building next to Fisherman Jack’s and South Fork Baking Company, according to the Port.
“When the community asked us to add Mexican flavor and tradition into our lineup of dining experiences here at Waterfront Place, our team worked hard to deliver just that,” Catherine Soper, the Port’s Chief of Business Development & Tourism, said.
“We couldn’t be happier to welcome the family-owned and operated Marina Azul, and we look forward to watching their vibrant, family-friendly space come to life at Restaurant Row very soon.”
Owner Julian Ramos, who has been in the restaurant business since 2002, said the Everett location will be managed by his nephew Alejandro and son Esteban and is anticipated to open early next year.
Expect an extensive tequila list (100+ sipping options), specialty margaritas and cocktails, and an elevated take on traditional Mexican cuisine—plus brunch, lunch, dinner, and happy hour. The menu will include gluten-free, vegetarian, and vegan options.
“If you want a great, traditional option—you are going to get it, and if you want top-notch locally inspired dishes you will find those, too,” Ramos said. “We have something for everyone.”
He added that the bar program will lean into sipping tequilas and cocktails “with a world-class view,” and the covered patio is designed for year-round al-fresco dining.
The Port notes one ~2,500-square-foot waterfront space remains available in the new 12,000-square-foot Restaurant Row building and is seeking a breakfast/lunch café tenant.
A final two-story anchor building with 180-degree marina and Puget Sound views is in design; the Port is recruiting an experiential, interactive dining concept for that space. Interested operators can contact Senior Property Manager Tara Hays at tarah@portofeverett.com, the Port said.
