A 36-year-old Port Orchard man found unresponsive inside the Kitsap County Jail has been identified, but officials say the cause of his death is still under investigation.
Anthony Lafrombois was discovered around 5 a.m. on Friday, March 27, during a routine check by corrections officers, according to the Kitsap County Sheriff’s Office.
Jail medical staff responded immediately and began CPR, with corrections officers assisting until crews from South Kitsap Fire and Rescue arrived, authorities said. Emergency responders eventually pronounced him dead.
An autopsy has been completed, but the Kitsap County Medical Examiner’s Office said the cause and manner of death are pending toxicology results.
The Port Orchard Police Department is conducting an independent investigation into the incident, according to the sheriff’s office.
At the time of his death, Lafrombois was being held on charges of indecent exposure and third-degree assault. He had an extensive criminal record in Kitsap County, court records show.
