Two people were found dead after a fifth-wheel trailer caught fire in Woodinville on Wednesday, April 8.
Crews responded around 6:30 p.m. to the 9000 block of 212th Street Southeast after multiple reports of a trailer fire with heavy smoke visible from about a mile away, according to Snohomish Regional Fire & Rescue.
When firefighters arrived, the trailer was fully engulfed in flames. Due to the intensity of the fire, crews could not safely enter the trailer and instead launched a defensive exterior attack, fire officials said.
Firefighters worked to contain the blaze and prevent it from spreading to nearby brush and trees. With no hydrants in the area, crews used hose lines from multiple engines to extinguish the fire.
Once the flames were knocked down and conditions improved, firefighters entered the trailer and located two victims inside, according to Snohomish Regional Fire & Rescue. One was found near the front of the trailer and the other toward the rear.
Both victims were pronounced dead at the scene. The identities of the victims had not been released as of Thursday, April 9.
The Snohomish County Fire Marshal’s Office is investigating the cause of the fire.
Fire officials reminded residents to install and maintain working smoke alarms in all living spaces, including RVs and trailers.
Additional details about the victims were not immediately available. Loved ones are invited to share a statement, funeral details, and/or photos by emailing michael@pugetpress.com.
