A Marysville family is mourning the sudden loss of a 30-year-old woman who died after suffering a severe asthma attack

Kassy Lee died on Thursday, April 2, after her asthma attack led to cardiac arrest and she lost oxygen to her brain, loved ones said. She had been on life support before her passing.

“This is an absolutely devastating tragedy our my family. We feel so helpless,” Koral Notman wrote on a GoFundMe campaign. “You’re too young to go.”

Loved ones remembered Lee as a gifted artist and university art major who hoped to one day use her art to support young people facing mental health challenges.

“She cared deeply about social justice,” reads her obituary. “Her creativity and empathy helped shape the way she moved through the world, and she continually strove to live with kindness and humility in her heart.”

Lee also found peace in nature, especially near the water, where she felt most at home along the beaches of the Pacific Northwest.

“She has always found peace and inspiration in the fresh air, surrounded by the sound of the waves and the calm she felt near the water,” reads her memorial.

In what loved ones described as her final act of generosity, Lee chose to become an organ donor.

“In her final act of love, Kassy chose to give the gift of life to families who were waiting for miracles, such an amazing and heartfelt choice; and we are all deeply proud of her,” her family said.

Lee is survived by her parents, siblings, extended family, and a large circle of loved ones who, according to her obituary, were touched by her kindness and spirit.

A memorial service was held Thursday, April 16, at Faith Lutheran Church in Marysville.

Notman’s fundraiser aims to help cover funeral expenses and give Lee “the service she deserves.”
