‘Reminded Me Of Rome’: Benny B’s Brings Crispy Roman-Style Pizza To Port Angeles

A pizza trailer that built a local following one weekend at a time now has a permanent home in Port Angeles — and customers already seem pretty obsessed with it.

Benny B’s Pizza officially celebrated its grand opening in mid-February, bringing Roman-style pizza, wings, salads, and a heavy dose of neighborhood hospitality to Highway 101.

And judging by the early reviews, the crispy rectangular pies are hitting the mark. One customer summed it up simply: “Reminded me of Rome.”

From Pizza Trailer To Brick-And-Mortar

Before Benny B’s had dining tables and permanent walls, they were serving pizzas from a small trailer parked along a local truck route on weekends.

Over time, the trailer became a familiar stop for truck drivers, families, and hungry regulars looking for oversized slices and approachable comfort food. The business started popping up at community events and neighborhood gatherings, where long lines became part of the routine.

Now, that trailer hustle has evolved into a full pizzeria with a modern-but-relaxed atmosphere centered around Roman-style slabs known for their airy interiors and crisp, golden crust.

The restaurant describes the concept as “Roman street-food energy with elevated technique,” blending long-fermented dough, fresh ingredients, and bold toppings designed to keep every bite balanced without overloading the slice.

In less fancy terms: crunchy edges, soft interiors, and pizzas big enough to make you immediately start calculating leftovers.

Pizza First — But Not Just Pizza

The menu leans heavily into Roman-style rectangular pies, though Benny B’s also offers personal pizzas for anyone not trying to commit to a full box of carbs.

One of the standout house creations is “The Benny,” topped with pepperoni, mushrooms, minced garlic, and basil garnish. “The Works” loads things up further with Canadian bacon, bacon, sausage, pepperoni, artichokes, spinach, basil, and more.

Then there’s “The Maui Wowi,” which somehow manages to combine pineapple, jalapeños, banana peppers, bacon, hot honey, and Canadian bacon without spiraling into total chaos.

For gyro fans, “The Gyro” pizza layers lamb and beef gyro meat with feta, tomatoes, romaine, red onions, and tzatziki finish.

The shop also offers cauliflower crust and vegetarian options, plus wings, cheesy breads, salads, and funnel cake sticks dusted with powdered sugar and served with chocolate or caramel dipping sauce.

More Than A Restaurant

What seems to resonate most with customers, though, may be the atmosphere behind the counter as much as the food coming out of the kitchen.

Benny B’s has repeatedly framed the restaurant as a community gathering place first and a business second.

In a Facebook post introducing the restaurant’s “Give A Pizza” initiative, the owner wrote that customers can anonymously purchase meals for neighbors in need — and Benny B’s will match every donated meal with one of its own.

“A warm meal can soften a hard day,” the post reads. That philosophy appears to be translating into customer experiences too.

“The people here are the nicest and genuinely kind folks around,” one Yelp reviewer wrote, praising both the hospitality and the personal-sized pizzas.

Another customer wrote: “Benny and the crew threw down some A+ pizza. Great attitudes, great food and great conversation.” The sweet chili wings also received a very direct recommendation: “A must.”

A Roman-Style Spot Finding Its Footing In Port Angeles

Roman-style pizza still feels relatively uncommon compared to traditional New York or pan-style spots around western Washington, which may explain why Benny B’s has generated curiosity so quickly since opening. The restaurant currently holds a 4.7-star rating on Yelp.

For now, the newest challenge facing Benny B’s may simply be convincing people not to order funnel cake sticks and pizza in the same meal. Good luck with that.

📍 Benny B’s Pizza is located at 2733 E. Highway 101 in Port Angeles and is open from noon to 8 p.m. Tuesday through Sunday, and closed on Mondays. Find more information on their website.
