A new waterfront Mexican restaurant is officially joining the Port of Everett’s growing Restaurant Row, with Marina Azul Cocina & Cantina celebrating its grand opening this week.

The Port of Everett and Marina Azul Cocina & Cantina will host a ribbon-cutting ceremony at 3 p.m. Thursday, June 25, at the restaurant’s new home at 1500 Seiner Drive, Suite 102, the port announced Monday.

Guests attending the event will have an opportunity to sample some of the restaurant’s authentic Mexican dishes while exploring the newest addition to Waterfront Place.

The restaurant quietly held a soft opening over the weekend.

Grand Opening Celebration Planned

According to the Port of Everett, the public is invited to attend the grand opening celebration and ribbon cutting ceremony.

“The Port of Everett and Marina Azul Cocina & Cantina invite you for a celebration of Marina Azul’s new vibrant, family-friendly restaurant at the Port’s Waterfront Place Restaurant Row,” the Port said in an announcement. “Join us for a ribbon cutting ceremony and sample some of Marina Azul’s fresh, authentic bites.”

The opening fills a long-awaited gap in the waterfront dining lineup by bringing a dedicated Mexican restaurant to the district.

Family-Owned Restaurant Group Expands To Everett

Marina Azul is the newest concept from the family behind several well-known Mexican restaurants on the Eastside.

The restaurant group operates Cava Azul Cocina & Cantina in Woodinville along with Agave Cocina & Cantina locations in Redmond and Kent Station.

Owner Julian Ramos has worked in the restaurant industry since 2002. Family members have grown up working in the restaurants and are now stepping into leadership roles.

According to Ramos, his son Esteban and nephew Alejandro will manage the Everett location.

The Port of Everett Commission approved a 10-year lease for the restaurant in August, along with options for two additional five-year extensions.

The restaurant occupies nearly 2,500 square feet of interior space plus a large patio overlooking the marina esplanade.

What Diners Can Expect

Guests familiar with the group’s Eastside restaurants will find many of the same crowd favorites in Everett.

The menu features fresh tacos, traditional Mexican dishes, specialty margaritas, curated cocktails, and an extensive tequila selection.

The restaurant is particularly known for offering more than 100 tequilas.

“If you want a great, traditional option – you are going to get it, and if you want top notch locally inspired dishes you will find those, too,” Ramos said. “We have something for everyone.”

The restaurant will also offer gluten-free, vegetarian, and vegan menu options.

One of its biggest draws may be the location itself. Diners can enjoy waterfront views from both the dining room and a covered patio designed for year-round outdoor seating.

Port Says Community Wanted More Mexican Dining

Port officials said the addition was driven in part by feedback from community members seeking more variety at Waterfront Place.

“When the community asked us to add Mexican flavor and tradition into our lineup of dining experiences here at Waterfront Place, our team worked hard to deliver just that,” said Catherine Soper, chief of business development and tourism for the Port of Everett.

“We couldn’t be happier to welcome the family-owned and operated Marina Azul, and we look forward to watching their vibrant, family-friendly space come to life at Restaurant Row very soon,” Soper said.

Restaurant Row Continues To Grow

Marina Azul becomes the latest addition to the Port of Everett’s Waterfront Place Restaurant Row, which has rapidly expanded into one of Snohomish County’s largest waterfront dining destinations.

Current restaurants and food destinations include:

  • Tapped at The Port, a Pacific Northwest-inspired taphouse known for elevated comfort food, local craft beverages, and the largest open-air rooftop deck on the Snohomish County waterfront.
  • The Net Shed, a casual seafood market and eatery serving fish and chips, poke bowls, chowder, and fresh seasonal catches.
  • Rustic Cork Wine Bar, a cozy wine-focused destination featuring Washington wines, regional ciders, charcuterie boards, and small plates.
  • Fisherman Jack’s, an upscale Asian-fusion restaurant specializing in dim sum, seafood dishes, noodles, and craft cocktails overlooking the marina.
  • Menchie’s at the Marina, a family-friendly frozen yogurt shop offering self-serve desserts and waterfront treats.

Together, the businesses offer everything from seafood and dim sum to wine tastings, rooftop dining, frozen yogurt, and waterfront cocktails.

More Waterfront Dining Nearby

Visitors looking to make a day of it will also find several longtime Everett waterfront favorites just steps away.

Nearby restaurants include Anthony’s HomePort, Scuttlebutt Family Pub, Jetty Bar & Grille, and Lombardi’s Italian Restaurant.

Just down the waterfront at Boxcar Park, visitors can also stop by The Muse Whiskey & Coffee, a gathering space inside the historic Weyerhaeuser building that serves coffee by day and cocktails by night.
