Target will open eleven new stores across ten states in July as it continues investing heavily in its brick-and-mortar footprint, the retailer announced this week.

The openings come as Target continues a major growth push that includes more than 30 new stores planned this year and a long-term goal of adding more than 300 locations nationwide by 2035.

The new locations are scheduled to open July 26 in Arizona, California, Colorado, Florida, Kentucky, Massachusetts, South Carolina, South Dakota, Texas, and Utah, according to the company.

The expansion is part of a broader effort to strengthen Target’s physical store network while improving its ability to fulfill online orders and same-day services, the retailer said.

Every store opening next month will exceed Target’s chainwide average store size of 125,000 square feet. Six of the locations will be larger than 140,000 square feet.

Many of the new stores will also feature expanded grocery departments with a greater emphasis on fresh produce, meat, and dairy products.

Inside Target’s $5 Billion Growth Plan

The expansion is part of Target’s broader $5 billion capital investment plan for 2026.

The company said the investment will support new store construction, more than 130 store remodels, additional payroll spending, and employee training initiatives aimed at improving customer service.

Target officials said the company remains on track to open more than 300 stores nationwide by 2035.

Company leaders say the strategy is designed to bring stores closer to customers while also strengthening Target’s growing e-commerce operation.

Target said approximately 95% of its digital orders are fulfilled through its stores, which function both as retail locations and fulfillment hubs.

Hundreds Of New Jobs Expected

The company also highlighted the employment impact of the expansion. Most of the new stores are expected to employ between 150 and 270 workers. Target said its starting wages generally range from $15 to $24 per hour depending on the position and market.

“Our continued commitment to opening new stores is really about showing up for our guests and our communities — and it starts with our incredible store team members,” Chief Stores Officer Adrienne Costanzo said in a statement.

“These new stores give our teams the tools and environments to bring our merchandising strengths to life, create easier and more inspiring shopping experiences, and use technology to move smarter and faster every day,” Costanzo added.

“It’s how we keep growing thoughtfully, stay connected to our communities and make Target an even better place to work and shop.”

The new stores arrive as Target works to reignite growth following a prolonged period of softer sales and reduced customer traffic.

The retailer has increasingly emphasized store investments, grocery expansion, and fulfillment services as key parts of its long-term strategy.
