A 41-year-old Silverdale man was killed late Tuesday night, April 21, after being struck by a truck in unincorporated Port Orchard.

Deputies responded to the crash just after 11 p.m. near the intersection of Bethel Road Southeast and Southeast Van Skiver Road, according to the Kitsap County Sheriff’s Office.

Investigators said the driver, a 24-year-old Port Orchard man, told deputies he was traveling southbound on Bethel Road and did not see the pedestrian before the collision.

The driver voluntarily completed field sobriety and portable breath tests, which showed no signs of impairment, deputies said.

The pedestrian was pronounced dead at the scene. His identity had not been made public as of Wednesday morning, April 22.

The Kitsap Interagency Traffic Team is investigating the crash.
