Fatal Stabbing Rocks Kent Apartment Complex; Suspect Found Inside Home

A 46-year-old man is in custody after a fatal stabbing at a Kent apartment complex late Thursday night.

Officers responded just before midnight on June 4 to reports of a stabbing at the Grandview Apartments in the 3900 block of Veterans Drive, according to Kent Police.

When officers arrived, they found a 26-year-old Kent man on the ground without a pulse outside Building B, police said.

Witnesses told officers the suspect was still inside a nearby residence. Police searched the area and located a 46-year-old Kent man, who was taken into custody without incident.

Officers provided lifesaving aid to the victim until firefighters and paramedics arrived. Despite those efforts, the victim died at the scene, according to police.

Investigators said the victim was known to the suspect and other residents at the apartment complex.

Police said the stabbing does not appear to have been a random attack and there is no indication of an ongoing threat to the public.

Kent detectives are leading the homicide investigation. Authorities have not yet released the names of the victim or suspect, and no information about a possible motive was immediately available.
