A teaser for the new season of “Euphoria” is drawing intense backlash online after Washington-born actress Sydney Sweeney appeared in a controversial scene that many viewers are calling disturbing.

The clip shows Sweeney, who plays Cassie on the HBO series, dressed as an infant and using a pacifier. The scene quickly spread across social media, where fans questioned the direction of the show and its increasingly provocative storylines.

The moment is tied to a reported plotline involving Cassie creating adult content while dressed as a baby, according to online discussion surrounding the teaser. That premise has fueled criticism from viewers who say the show may have crossed a line.

Some fans directed frustration at series creator Sam Levinson, while others criticized Sweeney’s involvement in the scene. “Sydney girl, you can say no to scenes,” one user wrote on social media. Another added, “They did Cassie dirty.”

“Euphoria” has built a reputation for pushing boundaries since its debut, often tackling dark and explicit themes involving its teenage characters. Still, some longtime viewers say this latest development goes further than expected.

Season 3 premieres Sunday night.

Sweeney, 28, was born in Spokane and raised near the Washington-Idaho border. She rose to fame through roles in television series including “Euphoria” and “The White Lotus,” earning Emmy nominations for both.
