Taylor Swift fans have heard plenty of rumors over the years. This one might be among the hardest to shake off.
Reports surfaced this week claiming Swift and fiancé Travis Kelce are planning to get married at New York City’s iconic Madison Square Garden over Fourth of July weekend. But while the rumor has generated headlines, many Swifties appear to be responding with the same message: we’re not buying it.
Multiple sources told Page Six Swift and Kelce intend to tie the knot at Madison Square Garden, with guests reportedly transported on blacked-out buses and strict security measures in place to keep the event under wraps.
The report suggested privacy concerns played a major role in selecting the venue. Madison Square Garden offers multiple entrances, underground access points and security infrastructure that few traditional wedding venues can match.
Page Six also noted the venue’s event calendar appears unusually empty between June 29 and July 6, fueling additional speculation.
But over on Reddit, where Swifties gathered to dissect the rumor like a hidden Easter egg in a music video, skepticism quickly took center stage.
“This feels very made up,” one commenter wrote.
Others weren’t entirely convinced — but admitted the theory wasn’t completely impossible.
“I don’t necessarily believe it, but some of the reasoning I’ve read doesn’t seem that far-fetched,” another user wrote. “There’s no windows or access to get pics from outside. Underground parking for guests to get in and out without pap swarms.”
Several fans pointed out that if any celebrity couple might need a venue resembling a fortress, it would be Swift and Kelce.

“There’s no way she can get married at a beachside estate or a villa in Europe or anywhere else outdoors,” one commenter wrote. “There would be helicopters flying overhead the entire time.”
Others argued that people may be imagining the venue all wrong.
“She’s a billionaire,” one fan wrote. “She could have her event designer build whatever venue she wanted inside the stadium.”
Still, disbelief remained the dominant theme.
“If she gets married in MSG I’ll eat my standard edition TTPD CD,” one commenter declared.
Another immediately raised the stakes.
“I’ll double it and eat my Long Pond vinyl. There’s just no way.”
The Decoy Theory Gains Momentum
Perhaps the most popular fan theory isn’t that the wedding will happen at Madison Square Garden.
It’s that everyone is supposed to think it will.
“I call decoy,” one Reddit user wrote. “It’s a clever way to get guests on buses and en route to the actual wedding venue.”
That theory appeared repeatedly throughout the discussion, with many fans suggesting leaked venue rumors could simply be a strategy to distract paparazzi and curious onlookers.
“Absolutely not,” another commenter wrote. “I think they will leak a bunch of wedding venues except where they really intend to get married to throw everyone off.”
Others suggested a compromise scenario: a large reception at Madison Square Garden, with a smaller private ceremony held elsewhere.
“It just seems like such an odd choice,” one fan wrote. “Maybe it’s like a big reception but actual ceremony for closest friends and family elsewhere.”
Or Maybe It’s Actually Very Taylor
Not everyone dismissed the idea outright.
Some fans argued that getting married at one of the world’s most famous venues actually sounds perfectly on-brand for the global pop superstar.
“We don’t actually know Taylor,” one commenter wrote. “But to be married in one of the most legendary venues in the world? That kind of sounds like Taylor to me.”
