A man was killed in a stabbing at a Covington clubhouse, and deputies arrested a suspect nearby.

The stabbing was reported around 3 p.m. Sunday, March 1, at the Timberline Clubhouse, located at 19300 SE 267th St., the King County Sheriff’s Office said.

Dispatchers received a call about a disturbance and were told someone had been stabbed and the suspect had fled the scene, police said.

Deputies arrived and found an adult man suffering from stab wounds. They provided medical aid until fire department personnel arrived, but the victim died at the scene.

Additional deputies searched the surrounding area and located an adult male suspect in a nearby wooded area, police said. He was taken into custody without incident.

Major Crimes detectives are investigating what led up to the stabbing. Authorities said the relationship between the victim and suspect, as well as the events leading to the incident, remain under investigation.

No additional details, including the names of those involved, were immediately released.
