Not sure what to order at Starbucks? There’s now an AI for that — and it wants to know your mood.

Starbucks launched a beta app within ChatGPT on Wednesday, April 15, designed to turn a user’s mood, cravings, or even photos into personalized drink suggestions.

Instead of scrolling through menus, users can simply describe what they’re feeling — like wanting something “bright” to start the day or a pick-me-up that isn’t too sweet — and the tool will suggest drinks tailored to that request.

“You don’t need to know the name of a drink, just start with how you’re feeling or what you’re craving,” the company said in a statement.

It also works with images. Users can upload a photo — whether it’s a rainy day, a sunny afternoon, or even their outfit — and the AI will generate drink ideas that match the overall vibe.

Once a suggestion is selected, users can customize the drink, choose a nearby store, and begin their order directly through ChatGPT before completing checkout in the Starbucks app or on its website.

“The beta Starbucks app in ChatGPT is part of our ongoing effort to make drink discovery at Starbucks a personal experience,” the company said.

The feature is part of Starbucks’ broader push to make drink discovery feel more personalized, as customers increasingly turn to social media and custom orders for inspiration.

“And now, in ChatGPT, we are using AI to support something very human: helping you discover a drink you’ll love.”
